Murder suspect arrested after SWAT standoff in SE Houston
A man suspected in the murder of a 54-year-old man was arrested after a three-hour standoff with SWAT at a southeast Houston motel.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A SWAT standoff at a southeast Houston motel ended with a murder arrest. Baytown police officers said they tracked 28-year-old Raymond Riley to the Houston Inn and Suites motel on South Wayside Drive just hours ago.

Investigators said Riley was wanted for killing a 54-year-old man who was found dead inside the Rosemont Apartments in Baytown on Tuesday morning. Detectives said the 54 year old's Mercedes was found on fire at a Walmart close to the Houston motel.

According to police, Raymond was hiding out at the location and refused to come out. Following a three-hour standoff, Raymond surrendered and was arrested on a murder charge. Houston police officers said their SWAT team assisted in capturing Riley.

"Our officers responded along with Baytown police. Once they determined what room the suspect was in, they initially tried to talk him out to see if he would come out and surrender. At that point given that he does have a murder warrant out of Baytown, he was believed to be armed. The decision at that time was to contact the SWAT team. The SWAT team responded and a very short time they came here and set up," said HPD spokesperson Victor Senties. "They managed to get the suspect out of the hotel room. He has been taken into custody. He is going to be transferred over to Baytown police because it is their case."

The circumstances surrounding the 54-year-old man's killing remain scarce. Baytown PD released two photos of Raymond Riley, writing only he was wanted for the crime without releasing much details of what led up to the deadly discovery.

Anyone with information about the murder is asked to call Baytown Crime Stoppers at 281-427-TIPS (8477).
