Mom sends warning after 16-year-old son dies from using synthetic marijuana

CLUTE, TX (KTRK) -- A 16-year-old Brazoswood High School student is dead, hours after smoking synthetic marijuana.

Augustine Jesus Faragoza died Wednesday while staying at a friend's house.

"It's not a joke," said Faragoza's mother, Jessica Pierce. "The drug is dangerous."

Synthetic marijuana is becoming more and more popular, especially among teenagers.

Juan Lara, 15, told ABC13 that Faragoza started to vomit.

"He just started throwing up or whatever, so they put him in the back," Lara said.

Hours later, Faragoza was found dead in his friends' driveway.

"My son shouldn't have been doing this, but he could be alive today if they would've gave him what he needed," Pierce added.

An autopsy will determine the official cause of his death.
