Audrey Lawson's family thanks community for support

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The family of civil rights activist Audrey Lawson is thanking the community for their support surrounding her death and the outpouring of love at her funeral.

Audrey Lawson died earlier this month after a brief illness. Not only was she a community activist who helped found the historic Wheeler Avenue Baptist Chruch, but she's also the mother to our Melanie Lawson.

Her father, Reverend Bill Lawson, also personally thanked the mayor and city council for attending Audrey's funeral on Friday.
