Pro football hopeful LaVance Taylor uses Twitter to score NFL dream

ST. JOSEPH, MO (KTRK) -- Thanks to the power of social media, a man's dreams of trying out for professional football came true.

LaVance Taylor, of St. Joseph, Missouri, was a standout football player in high school and college, but he needed to get noticed.

Taylor's dad, LaVoid, suggested he get on Twitter and sell himself to NFL teams. Taylor did just that, tweeting out to several teams about his availability.

Soon after, the opportunity of a lifetime came calling.

Taylor's father said, "He called me today. He said, 'Daddy I'm so excited.' He said, 'Dad, if they don't know it, I'll play for nothing.' I know in my heart if they give him a chance and they see what he's got, he'll make it. We believe that."

The Kansas City Chiefs called on Taylor after their only rookie running back at camp popped a hamstring.
