HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Klein family is in mourning after their son was killed on the way to his high school graduation Saturday morning. The Klein Forest High School graduate was reportedly wearing his cap and gown when he got into a wreck.

Officials have not released the student's name, but Klein ISD has said his name is Omar Rodas. A GoFundMe page has been set up in his honor.

There will be a vigil held on Sunday at 7pm at Klein Forest High School.

The accident happened on I-45 at Main near the Patton entrance ramp at around 7am. The student was heading to the graduation at NRG Stadium.

Graduates say they noticed their classmate was missing, though during the ceremony, they did not know about the wreck. When they did find out, the day of celebration turned to a day of remembrance.

"It's just saddening to know a friend or a classmate died. It could have been anybody," said Klein Forest Graduate Ashley Villanueva.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family," Klein ISD spokeswoman Judy Rimato told us.

There will be a vigil held on Sunday at 7pm at Klein Forest High School.
