Spa owner accused of performing illegal cosmetic procedures, Marla Carter reports.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Investigators arrested a medical spa operator after a sting operation Wednesday afternoon in southwest Houston.

Houston police said Yarianna Ortiz was illegally injecting Botox and lip fillers without a license. She operates Sloan Body Skin Style at Fountain View near Richmond Avenue.

HPD's Major Offenders Division raided the medical spa.

As Ortiz was placed in the back of the patrol car, we asked her if she was licensed to give injections.

"Yes," she replied.

However, police said Ortiz is not licensed. By law, you must have a license to do injections, investigators said.

Police said they uncovered lip filler and ten vials of what appears to be foreign Botox and anesthesia in Ortiz's business.

The big danger, sources say, no one really knows what's in the filler.

Dr. Franklin A. Rose, a plastic surgeon, said injecting unknown material into your body can be extremely dangerous.

"Who knows what could happen. It could be poisonous. It could be stuff that's used for laboratory animals. You don't really know. These poor patients don't really know," said Rose.

Rose recommends if you do get Botox or injections, make sure it's from a certified doctor.

"The good work of our Houston's officers is saving the lives of many, many unsuspecting people," Rose added.
