HPD officer bitten by dog near Midtown

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston police officer is recovering after being bitten by a pit bull.

It happened this morning on Holman near Delano in Midtown. Witnesses say the officer was knocking on the door and a dog in the yard ran up and bit him on the hand. The officer and the dog scuffled before the dog's owner came out to pull the animal away.

The officer was taken to a hospital but is expected to be OK.
