Woman killed in crash on Eastex Freeway

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One person was killed in a major crash on the Eastex Freeway Tuesday afternoon.

Houston police said the crash happened just before 2 p.m. at 15900 Eastex Freeway.

Police say a woman was driving a black Hyundai Genesis southbound on the Eastex Freeway and hit a wet spot on the roadway. The Hyundai lost control and veered across several lanes of traffic.

The driver of a tractor-trailer truck saw the Hyundai coming into his lane and attempted to avoid the vehicle, but struck the driver's side door.

The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity has not been released. The driver of the trailer truck was not injured.
