Houston Astros' George Springer proposes to girlfriend on beach

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston Astros right fielder George Springer shared some happy news.

Springer announced that he got engaged to his girlfriend.

He made the announcement Thursday on Houston Astros Radio during their broadcast at Pluckers.

The Astros shared photos of the sweet proposal. It shows Springer, down on one knee, proposing to his girlfriend on a beach. The words, "Will you marry me" were written in the sand.

Springer fans were happy and heartbroken at the same time.
