I-10 East Fwy WB exit ramp to 59 Eastex northbound reopens

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A big rig driver walked away unharmed from a frightening accident early this morning.

According to Houston police officers and TxDot crews, the 18 wheeler overturned on the 59 Eastex Freeway on-ramp from the westbound lanes of the I-10 East Freeway. The unidentified driver told Eyewitness News he took the curve too quickly, causing the truck to overturn. The truck also lost its load. Officers said the truck was hauling cement.

TxDot crews called the driver "lucky," saying part of the big rig was dangling over the onramp at one point.

The accident happened just before 3:45am. The ramp reopened just before 9:30am this morning.
