A new study says sitting for long periods is bad for your heart.
The research, which appears in the journal "Circulation," suggests the more people sit, the more likely they are to display signs of injury to their cardiac muscles.
Researchers said proteins called Troponins are released in large amounts during a heart attack.
According to the study, people who spent ten hours or more per day sitting were more likely to have above-average levels of Troponin.
Doctors say even slightly elevated Troponin levels are concerning over the long term.
