Gallery Furniture is continuing its Christmas giveaways by surprising a family who faced no shortage of tragedy in 2017

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Gallery Furniture is continuing its Christmas giveaways by surprising a family who faced no shortage of tragedy in 2017.

Rick and Janie Elizondo not only lost their home during Hurricane Harvey, but two weeks before the storm, Rick fell while remodeling their house and was paralyzed.

On Sunday with the help of their neighbors, Gallery Furniture surprised the Elizondo family with a house full of furniture.

Their neighbors made it a mission to help the Elizondo family by sending letters and meeting with 'Mattress Mack' personally.

This is the 35th year that Gallery Furniture has given away furniture during the holidays.

The store, as you might remember, opened its doors as a shelter during Hurricane Harvey.
