HOUSTON (KTRK) -- We now know who the Texans starting quarterback will be this season.

Veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, who the Texans picked up via free agency this off-season, will be under center when the season starts, said coach Bill O'Brien Tuesday.

O'Brien said Fitzpatrick has earned the starting job through preparation and accuracy. Case Keenum and Tom Savage will compete for the backup job. That's because the NFL Network is reporting TJ Yates is the odd man out.

Fitzpatrick's timing with the receivers is still a work in progress, said O'Brien. He must continue to perform in mini camp and training camp.

And speaking of receivers, Andre Johnson still hasn't reported to camp, to which O'Brien commented, 'I have tremendous respect for Andre. He's a bright guy. He can pick up the system."

With today being mandatory camp, Johnson will be fined $11,500.
