Mother killed and son severely burned in northwest Houston house fire
A mother was killed and her son severely burned in a northwest Houston house fire.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A mother was killed and her son severely burned in a northwest Houston house fire.

It happened at a home on Granite Street.

Neighbors woke up to flames and called 911.

Firefighters found the son, 53-year-old Francisco Estrada, outside the home with severe burns. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

The body of Celia Estrada, 77, was found inside the house. We're told that Celia just celebrated her birthday.

Arson investigators are looking into what caused the fire.

Animal control arrived at the scene and took the family's dog who survived.
