HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- Charlie Dahu is searching for answers after his 7-year-old daughter was allowed to take a school bus home with a fake excuse note.

Dahu's daughter, Rosabella, was allowed to take the bus home from Sheldon Elementary, instead of going to the after-school program.

She wrote a fake excuse note to the staff herself and they accepted it.

"You can clearly see she did not even spell the word bus right?" said Dahu.

Dahu didn't realize his daughter was in front of their home, alone for Monday afternoon, until a concerned neighbor called him.

"She came to ask my wife to use the restroom and that's when I figured there was something wrong," said neighbor, Rolando Lozano.

The little girl couldn't find a way inside the house. Lozano's family took her in and waited for dad.

"I was shaking, I was scared, I was just glad to see her in good health and that nothing happened to her," said Dahu.

Sheldon ISD released the following statement:

"Sheldon ISD is currently investigating the situation. We are reviewing our training procedures to ensure that our after-school grant program staff is properly trained in dismissal procedures. As we move forward, the district is working to make sure that all of our after-school grant staff receives the same training as district employees. At this point, the district is continuing to investigate and will take proper disciplinary action. As always, student safety is our top priority."
