CHICAGO, IL -- A child found living in squalor was removed from a Chicago home Tuesday, along with some dogs.
The Englewood home was deemed not habitable by the City of Chicago as some neighbors learned a 3-year-old boy had been living there with his parents.
The case is now being investigated by police as possible child endangerment and animal cruelty.
"Never saw the baby," said neighbor Helena Duncan.
Police were called to the home on South Damen to assist Animal Care and Control in removing four dogs Tuesday morning. When officers arrived they found debris and garbage around the house and inside - what was described as "deplorable" conditions with feces, urine and garbage.
