Katy ISD survey
Katy ISD is asking for feedback from the community on how to best modify its transportation systems

KATY, TX (KTRK) -- Katy ISD has struggled, like many districts in recent years, to hire enough bus drivers. It calls that the "key variable" in what kind of transportation services it can provide for students. Couple that with a growing district, and it creates a problem the district has to address.

The district will have to make some big decisions about what to recommend to the school board. The district tells us student enrollment is growing by about 3,000 students a year.

"We are going to have to make some adjustments, whether it be a multi-bell schedule, whether it is modifying the radius that is necessary for students to be eligible, we're looking at different options," said Katy ISD spokesperson, Denisse Cantu.

First it wants to hear from you via a survey, starting today.

The district is encouraging both parents and community members to participate in the Transportation Survey available online until January 21st. Look for it at www.katyisd.org.
