HISD's new superintendent visits 6 schools in 6 hours
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- HISD's new superintendent has already hit the ground running on the first day of school.
Richard Carranza is visiting six schools in six hours, travelling 60 miles.
His first stop was Law Elementary in the Sunnyside area. He said he was impressed with the school and its bilingual program.
After that, five more stops were planned for the district's new leader.
Carranza said for his first 90 days his goal is to focus on listening and learning people's needs.

"In a district as big as Houston ISD, 215,000 students, you can't treat everybody the same," said Carranza.
Carranza will be especially busy the next two weeks. He's wrapping up his duties as superintendent in San Francisco, while he's also moving into the role as the new superintendent for HISD.
He told abc13 Eyewitness News that he will have one foot in each state during the transition.
Carranza will be permanently in Houston in two weeks.
