HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Customers who found a $10 deal on Astros World Series jerseys on the Dick's Sporting Goods website say they are fed up after their orders were cancelled.
Excited fans turned to Twitter when the hot deal from Dick's popped up on their website.
Many customers were rushing to buy a World Series replica jersey, regular price: $140. The special sale had the jersey for just $9.98.
Cameron Byrne, who shelled out cash on the deal, spoke to Eyewitness News on the telephone from Cypress this evening.
"I quickly checked, thinking let me just go ahead and buy one jersey before they all get sold out for the price change," Byrne said. "I was able to buy 10 jerseys for family and friends and orders went through, they charged my credit card."
But then came a twist: Byrne says he got an email from Dick's reading: "We are sorry to inform you that due to a pricing error on our website, we need to cancel your order for the Majestic MLB World Series Jersey."
Dick's says in the event a pricing or promotional error happens, they do have the right to cancel any orders that were affected by the issue.
But Byrne and other customers say it's Dick's mistake and they should honor the deal.
"It happens all the time in retail and typically businesses will just honor it because it was their mistake, but it seems like they're placing all the blame on everyone else," Byrne said.
Eyewitness News has reached out to Dick's Sporting Goods and they have not responded for comment.
