Gun found next to body in picnic area at apartment complex in NW Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A deadly shooting is under investigation this morning in northwest Houston.

Shots rang out around 1:30am at an apartment complex on Lamonte Lane and Mangum.

When officers arrived, they found the body of a man lying in the picnic area of the complex. A gun was also found next to the body.

The gunman, however, could not be found initially. HPD says the man had run away from the scene after he opened fire on his victim.

The alleged gunman was later found at a nearby convenience store and taken in for questioning.

We are not yet sure of the relationship between the two men involved or the motive for the shooting.
