WACO, TX -- Police say a Waco man has been charged with intoxication assault and intoxication manslaughter after two pregnant women riding his vehicle were critically injured when he crashed into a utility pole and their unborn children didn't survive.

Waco police say 46-year-old Jeffrey David Miller was charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter in the deaths of the fetuses and two counts of intoxication assault for the mothers' injuries in Saturday's crash.

Police say Miller was "under the influence of an intoxicant" and distracted by his cellphone when he veered off the road and struck the pole.

Police say Miller's 22-year-old passenger was 10 weeks pregnant and his 33-year-old passenger was five months pregnant.

Miller was in jail Monday on $400,000 bond. Jail records don't list an attorney for him.
