HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One person is dead and four others were injured when the truck they were in lost control and hit a tree in north Houston.
The accident happened overnight at the Chevy pickup was traveling westbound on Lauder Road.
Deputies say the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, went into a ditch, rolled over and crashed into the tree.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
Two young men and two girls were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Alcohol is believed to have contributed to the accident.
The driver had just celebrated a birthday yesterday and had just left a celebration at the home of a family member when they crashed.
