HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A high speed chase came to a swift end in a car sales lot on the northwest side of Houston. But the whole thing started at least an hour earlier in College Station.

During the lunch hour College Station Police Department officers responded to the Wood Creek Subdivision for a suspicious person call. They were told someone knocked on the door, asked for someone who didn't live there and then drove off.

The resident thought this was suspicious and called the police to let them know what happened, and pass along the license plate of the vehicle that drove away.

Officers spotted the vehicle driving through the neighborhood and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver sped off.

College Station officers followed the vehicle south on Highway 6, where DPS troopers and the Grimes County Sheriff's Department joined the chase. A lengthy pursuit continued through several small towns until the vehicle finally stopped near Jersey Village.

The three suspects bailed out of the car, ran through a car dealership parking lot and hopped a fence. They landed in the back parking lot of the Jersey Village Police Department. When the suspects realized their mistake, they hopped back over the fence. Police officers caught all three men and took them into custody.

Officers say it's possible this group of men are linked to previous home burglaries in College Station and Brazos County.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the College Station Police Department at 979-764-3600.
