ORLANDO, FL (KTRK) -- A mail carrier found a large, dead catfish in a woman's mailbox in Orlando.
The homeowner, Maddison Fertic, says she thinks it might just be kids playing pranks, but is worried it could escalate.
Fertic told local station WKMG, "I was honestly in shock because it doesn't make any sense. It's just one of those things where it's just why?"
Fertic's home wasn't the only one hit by catfish vandals, according to a Facebook page for Osceola County Residents. Two other people reported similar incidents this week: someone threw a catfish onto a yard, and another one was found in a mailbox.
Fertic said, "I have no idea why somebody would want to do that. And why a catfish? Why a fish in a mailbox at all? ... It's kind of funny, but it isn't funny when it happens to you. It's not something as a kid you should be going around doing."
Fertic says the 12-inch long fish may have been alive when it was left sometime early Monday morning.
