Deadly hit and run driver on run after northwest Harris County crash

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman is dead and a man is in the hospital after they were hit by an SUV while walking on a busy road in northwest Harris County this morning.

Deputies tell us the victims were hit by a Toyota 4Runner in the 15800 block of Ella near Richey around 6am.

The impact of the crash threw the male victim into the opposite lanes of traffic where he was hit by another driver in a white Chevy Malibu.

The woman died at the scene.

The 4Runner driver stopped and was not charged.

The Malibu driver with a passenger fled the scene and deputies are still searching for them. Both driver and passenger of the Malibu are described as black females in their mid 20s.
