Arson investigators are at the scene of an apartment fire in southwest Houston where they believe a woman may have set the building on fire.

Fire crews were called out to Alder at Clarewood Drive around 7am. The fire spread, causing damage in six to nine apartment units.

Crews were able to put out the fire and find the unit where the blaze originated.

Witnesses say they heard a woman saying she was going to burn the place down, then saw her douse a car and the apartment building with a flammable liquid and set it on fire. Those witnesses were able to use extinguishers to put out the car fire before firefighters arrived.

No one was hurt. But one dog had to be rescued from one apartment unit and treated for smoke inhalation.
