Woman delivers her own baby on drive to hospital

SEGUIN, TX

Brenda Irvin went into labor Tuesday morning. So she and her fiancé started to drive from New Braunfels to their doctor's hospital in Seguin. As the couple drove down the road, Irvin started to have the baby in the car. She braced herself, then the baby came out.

"I felt like I had to push," said Brenda. "He said, 'Don't push.' I said, 'I'm not trying to push. My body is telling me to push."

"That last push, I just felt everything," Brenda continued. "I turned her over so she wouldn't swallow the blood."

The family pulled into a fire station and the crew there took the mother and baby on to the hospital. The girl's name is Nevaeh, which is heaven spelled backward.
