SUV driver flees after slamming into side of train in NE Houston

Police say the SUV slammed into the side of the train and was dragged 40 yards down the tracks.

The search is on for a driver who crashed into the side of a train in northeast Houston overnight.

It happened around 3am on Lyons near the East Freeway. Railroad police say the driver ignored railroad crossing lights and drove around the crossing arm. The driver's vehicle was dragged about 40 yards.

When authorities arrived on the scene the SUV was empty. It is unknown if anyone was injured.
