Police: Drunk driver collides with wrecked vehicle in southeast Houston; 2 hurt

HOUSTON

This case actually involves two accidents. The first happened around 1:20am in the 5000 block of South Loop East.

According to police, the driver of a red Mitsubishi Montero was traveling east on the South Loop feeder when the vehicle jumped the curb onto the freeway.

The man lost control of the car and it struck a retainer wall.

As several witnesses went to assist the man, a green Toyota Previa crashed into the wrecked Montero and then knocked it into one of the Good Samaritans who had stopped to help.

The driver of the Montero, 46, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.

The pedestrian was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Previa -- 27-year-old Jose Eliseo Guevara-Palma -- was taken into custody and faces charges.
