Two men were taken to an area hospital by Life Flight this morning after a violent crash in northwest Harris County.

Deputies say the driver of a Mercedes ran a red light at the same time a man in a Toyota with two passengers was exiting a gas station on Fairbanks North Houston near West Road.

The Mercedes crashed into the Toyota and two of the passengers in the Toyota had to be taken to the hospital.

One was in "extremely critical condition," officials said.

Deputies say the driver of the Mercedes showed signs of impairment and was taken to the hospital for a blood draw. Charges are pending.
