Fundraiser held for Texas EquuSearch; more donations needed to keep organization in operation

The mounted search and recovery organization is in jeopardy of closing if it does not receive enough funds to stay open. The nonprofit is funded solely by individual donations and grants from organizations.

Saturday morning, there was a fundraising motorcycle run at San Jacinto Harley-Davidson.

The efforts of Texas EquuSearch have returned more than 300 missing people safely home to their families. They have also recovered the remains of 160 missing people, bringing closure to grieving families.

Founder Tim Miller started Texas EquuSearch as a result of losing his own daughter, Laura, to abduction and murder. Miller said an annual fundraiser usually helps cover day-to-day operating expenses related to our search missions. However, with an increase in demand for their services, this past year's fundraiser did not take place.
