The accident happened in the westbound lanes of the Loop near Ella, around 10pm. A man and woman were in the car, which was rear-ended. The driver had to be cut out of the vehicle. He and the woman were both taken to the hospital. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The man driving the pickup was also taken to the hospital. He is listed in stable condition.
