It happened around 8pm at a Valero store on Yellowstone at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Investigators say the victim was taken to the gas station to meet someone. But another man approached the car and fired a weapon, shooting the passenger.
The victim got out the car and tried to run, but he collapsed. His friend tried to get him back in the car and take him to the hospital, but he was already dead, according to authorities.
