There's a system out to the west of Texas that's spinning toward us, and once it makes its way to the plains, that system, along with the strong jet stream currently overhead, could intensify the storms we're expecting to roll over the Houston area overnight. The strongest storms may bring heavy rain, damaging winds, hail and even tornadoes.
The most active weather will likely occur between 4am-noon. The mostly likely locations for severe weather are north of I-10 and east of I-45, but some scattered strong storms may cross our area during the morning hours.
The coldest air of the season will push in behind this storm system. Expect falling temperatures Christmas afternoon -- from 70 degrees to the low 50s -- followed by temperatures in the 40s overnight.
