It happened around 1:15am in the 11400 block of Interstate 45 North.
According to Houston police, a blue Ford Expedition was southbound when it stalled. A white Volkswagon Pointer then struck the rear of the SUV.
Police said the driver of the Volkswagon, a 29-year-old man, died at the scene. His 27-year-old male passenger was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Their names have not been released.
The driver of the SUV was not injured, officials said.
There are no charges in this case.
