Teens take safety concerns directly to the chief of HPD

HOUSTON

Chief Charles McClelland met with members of the Youth Police Advisory Council on Saturday.

The council is made up of students from local schools.

They talked about peer pressure, teen suicide and bullying, which McClelland says has changed a lot since he was a kid.

"With texting, Facebook other forms of social media, people can reach out and bully and you don't necessarily have to be the biggest, the baddest on the block anymore," he said.

The council members are asked to share what they've learned about making good decisions with their peers, who may be more willing to listen to advice from another teen instead of an adult.
