Mayor Parker previews the annual city holiday celebration in downtown Houston

HOUSTON

With the help of Santa Claus and characters from the Nutcracker, Mayor Annise Parker previewed the city's annual holiday celebration.

"It may be a little warm outside, but as you can see City Hall is already transforming into a winter wonderland to kick off our holiday festivities," the mayor said.

The celebration, taking place on November 30, will include music, food, fireworks, and of course the lighting of the holiday tree. The 63-foot white fir tree that will be the city's holiday centerpiece is on its way to Houston and should arrive Saturday.

This year's featured entertainer will be 7-time Grammy Award winner Dennis Edwards and the Temptations Review.

There will also be a toy drive for the Salvation Army.
