Thirty-nine-year-old Jason Barnes had accused the Kane County State's attorney's office and 14 other entities of malicious prosecution.

Barnes was acquitted of felony charges.

The child was so badly burned his toes had to be amputated.

Barnes said it happened because of a malfunctioning thermostat on a hot water heater.
