HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities with the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office are investigating a man accused of online solicitation of a minor, who they also say coaches youth softball.

Precinct 1 said deputies arrested 37-year-old Nathan Velez for online solicitation for seeking sex with a detective who was posing as a 15-year-old girl.

“We will always do all we can to protect children,” Constable Rosen said. “Our detectives patrol cyberspace, and they catch predators.”

The investigation into Velez began in April through an online chat platform and led to several conversations, records show. Detectives said Velez requested nude photos and discussed sexual acts he wanted to perform.

Records also alleged that Velez coaches a youth softball team in Montgomery County and is a lineman for a technology company.

Since his arrest, authorities are asking anyone with information about his alleged inappropriate interactions with children to contact Precinct 1’s Crimes Against Children Unit at 713-222-4929.

Authorities said Velez has been charged with a third-degree felony and faces two to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
