Friends Megan Haas and Brooke Markowitz said they wanted to do something to help replace the trees lost in last year's drought.
As part of a bat mitzvah project, the girls sold T-shirts and recruited corporate sponsors to raise money to buy new trees.
Sunday, their hard work paid off as they planted the trees with the help of other volunteers. The trees went up across from the baseball fields on the south side of Memorial Drive.
