Houston police officer grazed by stray bullet during traffic stop

The officer was hit early Sunday morning while he had a driver pulled over in the parking lot of a grocery store.

A Houston police officer was shot in the line of duty early this morning in northeast Houston.

The officer was in the middle of a traffic stop in a parking lot near Airline and Parker just before 3:30am when he was hit by a bullet from a nearby robbery.

Police say the suspect continued to fire while fleeing the scene. The bullet grazed the officer's calf. He was not seriously hurt.

The robbery suspect is still on the loose.
