It happened around 1:30am on Selinsky near Webercrest in southeast Houston.
Renada Johnson, 32, was crossing the street when a white Dodge Magnum traveling west on Selinsky struck her.
Several people witnessed the accident and called 911.
The woman died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital, officials say.
It's unknown if alcohol was a facot in the accident. According to investigators, the vehicle that struck Johnson stayed at the scene, but police aren't sure who was behind the wheel.
