Damage reported from Friday night's storms

HOUSTON

For many, the weekend got off to a stormy start. We received several reports of wind damage in parts of the Channel 13 viewing area, all the way from Walker County to Montgomery County.

In Montgomery County, residents in the Lake Mount Pleasant neighborhood were without power for several hours Friday night. A huge tree fell on top of the power lines there and knocked out the electricity to those in the area.

Residents affected by the power outage say they were just waiting for Mid-South Electric Company to get out there and remove the tree from the power lines. They also voiced concerns about having to spend the night without electricity.

"There is no power. It has been out for several hours. People have go to get up and go to work in the morning. I know me and my husband do," resident Kathy Carson said. "We just got home from work. We need showers and get up again the morning."

We're not sure how many people were stuck in their homes, which are located behind the large tree that fell and blocked the roadway.

At this point, it's believed no one was injured, but emergency responders in Montgomery County were out at the scene assisting those residents.

We've received several viewer photos through our iWitness Reports.
