It happened near West University Place at Albans and Shepherd. Smoke billowed from the chimney of the two-story home.
The homeowner was already outside when firefighters arrived, saying a fire had started in the kitchen. Firefighters quickly discovered an electrical short, ripped out the wall behind the stove, and put out the fire.
No one was hurt.
