There's an event being held at the Hilton Americas Hotel, 1600 Lamar, to help struggling homeowners look for possible alternatives to foreclosure.
The last time this free assistance program rolled into town hundreds of people showed up and a large crowd is expected again today. The event is a chance for homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage, to learn about other options and alternatives to foreclosure.
As with others like it, this event will bring in some of the largest mortgage companies in the nations along with several non-profit housing counselors for a face-to face meeting with homeowners who are struggling to make their mortgage payments. Among the mortgage companies scheduled to attend, American Home Mortgage Servicing, Bank of America, Chase, Citi-Mortgage, Wells Fargo and more.
Team members and counselors will sit down with homeowners, review their individual plight and try to help them stay in their homes. The free program is a part of the Obama administration's Making Home Affordable program, the Hope Now Alliance and Neighborhood Works America.
This is a first-come, first-serve free event. It starts at 11am and goes until 7:30pm at the Hilton Americas downtown. If you are headed out to the event, there is a list of documents you should bring.
