The fire started around 12am Saturday at the Stonegate Apartments on Bellerive.
A family -- including children -- was inside, but they managed to get out safely.
By the time firefighters arrived, flames were shooting out of the second story unit.
Crews put out the fire before it could spread to any nearby buildings.
The cause remains under investigation.
