The HPOU claims Jones acted as an attorney while her law license was suspended. The request comes less than a week after a City Council panel cleared Jones of an ethics complaint. It concerned a controversial flyer she published that included the phone numbers of her City Council office and her private law firm.
Last week, a Jones spokesperson told us her license was suspended by the state bar due to an administrative fees issue which was quickly resolved.
Jones' office released a statement Wednesday which read in part, "Mr. Hunt's complaints have been proven to be without merit. Council Member Jones is concerned about public safety issues and supports and respects the Houston Police Department. We ask Mr. Hunt to join her in focusing on important issues that would make better use of police union resources including police brutality, the crime lab and justice for thousands of rape victims."
