The shooting happened at the Woods of Greenbriar apartments in the 900 block of Greens Road near Seminar at around 7pm. The victim, Colby Ivan McCardle, 21, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police say McCardle was in an apartment complex parking lot talking with friends. The group was approached by an unknown black male suspect and words were exchanged. At some point, police say the suspect pulled a gun from his waistband and began firing. McCardle was struck in the arm and chest.
The man's friends drove him to the Northwest Houston Medical Center where he later died.
Police are still investigating the incident. They believe the suspect fled the scene, but they do not yet have a motive for the shooting.
