Body found in parking lot in southwest Houston

HOUSTON

Police know very little about the man found dead this morning on Hillcroft near Bellaire. He was the victim of a shooting. They're hoping surveillance cameras may have caught something that can help them.

All morning long, homicide investigators looked over the scene, with very little to work with. The body of the Hispanic male in his 20s, who was fatally shot, was spotted at around 6am, lying in the carport area of a discotheque.

Two men driving by saw him and initially thought he was drunk. When they got closer, they realized the man was dead and called 911.

Police say the discotheque is open after hours from 2am to 6am.

Several people who told us they are relatives of the victim arrived, and were taken to HPD headquarters for questioning. The medical examiner will determine the man's identity.

Police do not have any suspects or a motive, but they believe there were many witnesses to this crime.

"There were obviously people here. There were people who saw things happen. There were people who were involved," said Sgt. Bobby Roberts with the Houston Police Department. "Most of them are just witnesses. If that's true, and most likely at a bar like this, there were people here, they need to come forward because this guy doesn't need to die like this with people abandoning him and leaving him like a piece of trash on the ground."

Since this is a predominantly immigrant area, police want to be sure people are not afraid to talk because of their immigration status. They say witnesses will not be asked about it.

If anyone has information about this crime you are asked to call Houston police or Crime Stoppers 713-222-TIPS. A $5,000 cash reward is available and you can remain anonymous.
