The incident happened at a construction site just north of Pearland Parkway near Barry Rose at about 8:30am. According to Pearland PD spokesperson Lt. Lopez, a portable X-ray type machine was run over.
The site manager described the box to police as a small box, about one foot wide and two feet long. There are two probes that are sunk into the ground as the box is used to measure soil density.
The city of Pearland Fire Marshals Office reports that the minute amount of hazardous material contained in a capsule was not breached, so there is no hazmat hazard.
Police had cleared the area for about 2,000 feet around during the investigation. Nearby residents were never in danger.
